SBC currently offers Chinese Ministry of Education approved UK Bachelor Degrees with certificates identical to those awarded to students in the UK. Degree programmes are offered to international students in the following course categories: Accounting and Finance, Business Administration, Events Management, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The table below summarise the bachelors degree course categories available to native English language speakers at SBC. (Note - Within each course category there are numerous degree subjects that may be chosen *):

Other Courses for Native-English and Near-Native-English Speakers

Native-English and near-native-English speaking International Students may also take the following programmes:

(a) "SBC Year 1":

· Equivalent to an "Access Course", or;

· Equivalent to NCUK’s International Foundation Year Certificate;

Native-English and near-native-English speakers may elect to take the SBC Year 1 to strengthen their academic qualifications prior to entry into a UK degree programme. Students of this Year 1 Programme may choose to take either the Business or the Engineering stream. Native-English speakers are exempt from studying the English for Academic Purposes and may take elective Mandarin Chinese if they wish. SBC Year 1 is accepted as transferable credit at a large number of British universities.

(b) "SBC Year 2":

· Equivalent to the common Year 1 of the 3-years bachelors programme in the UK, or;

· Equivalent to NCUK’s International Diploma Certificate;

Native-English and near-native-English speaking international students that meet entry requirements may be allowed to omit the foundation year and enter directly into SBC Year 2. (Note - Admission into SBC Year 2 requires high-school graduation requirements). If desired, native-English speakers may take elective Mandarin Chinese. International students may take this 1 year programme in the following course categories: Accounting and Finance, Business Administration, Events Management, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.

SBC Year 2 is accepted as transferable credit at a large number of British universities.

(c) Language Course Certificates:

Mandarin Chinese courses are available at the Miracle Mandarin Centre at the SBC Campus which is run in cooperation with SBC partner university, USST.

Non-Native English Speakers

Other Courses for Non-Native English Speakers

Non-native English speaking International Students may also take the following programmes:

(a) "SBC Year 1":

· Equivalent to an "Access Course", or;

· Equivalent to NCUK’s International Foundation Year Certificate;

Non-native English speaking international students that meet the academic entry requirements would normally enter "SBC Year 1" (International Foundation Year) together with the local Chinese students unless they have the appropriate IELTS equivalent grade required. They would focus on learning English for Academic Purposes as well as basic introductory classes for either business or engineering related subjects depending on the student’s preference. Successful students may then progress into SBC Year 2, (equivalent to Year 1 of the 3-years bachelors programme in the UK). SBC Year 1 is accepted as transferable credit for direct entry into Year 1 of the 3-Year UK bachelor degree at a large number of British universities.

(b) "SBC Year 2":

· Equivalent to the common Year 1 of the 3-years bachelors programme in the UK, or;

· Equivalent to NCUK’s International Diploma Certificate;

In some cases, Non-Native English speaking international students that meet entry requirements may be allowed to omit the foundation year and enter directly into SBC Year 2. (Note - Admission into SBC Year 2 requires high-school graduation requirements as well as English language requirements). If desired, Non-Native English speakers may take elective Mandarin Chinese.
